The World Through Poetry with Tracy K. Smith

Join U.S. Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith for the first live rendition of APM's new daily poetry podcast, The Slowdown. For this debut, Smith is joined on stage by Danez Smith for a reading and conversation of select works, followed by a poetic exercise with festival attendees lead by Smith.

Tracy K. Smith is the author of three books of poetry, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning collection Life on Mars. She has served as the Poet Laureate of the U.S. since June of 2017. Every weekday on The Slowdown, Smith delivers a different way to see the world – through poetry. The Slowdown is produced in partnership with The Library of Congress and the Poetry Foundation.

Danez Smith is a Black, Queer, Poz writer & performer from St. Paul, MN. They are the author of books from Graywolf Press and YesYes Books and winner of the Forward Prize for Best Collection, the Midwest Booksellers Choice Award, and a finalist for the National Book Award.
